7 Things I LOVE and HATE about Jacksonville

Collected from personal experience from living in Jacksonville, FL for the last 13 years. As a local real estate agent I am able to give advice on both real estate and overall opinion of Jacksonville.

7 Things I LOVE:

  1. Location we are located perfectly to go down South or up North. Diverse landscape and largest land base city. We are lucky to miss Hurricanes.

  2. Weather is sunny or rainy- but no snow and yes we get hurricanes but we get lucky here in Jacksonville barely missing most hurricanes.

  3. Potential Growth- we have so much growth currently happening and more to come. We have great companies here and we are no state income tax! Job market is diverse and continuing to grow which includes military base. We outpace LA in job market and many other major cities.

  4. Cost of Living- We are undervalued and the real estate is priced extremely well in comparison to Miami and more down south.

  5. Low key beaches- it’s not that Miami South Beach party vibe, it’s more chill and calm beach life, truly relaxing.

  6. Jacksonville International Airport- great size, easy to travel to and from and convenient and ease of use.

  7. NFL Team in our town- that are the second least expensive! Great atmosphere and stadium jumbo screens are amazing.

7 Things I HATE:

  1. NFL Team…does suck! #DUVAL…Jaguars enough said! However, it is still fun to go to the games just don’t expect a WIN.

  2. Drivers- are not the amazing…enough said!

  3. Weather- yes we said it was great but we here from many how it’s either HOT or COLD or RAINING or dry. No seasons!

  4. Public Transportation- needs to have a better bus, train and even water taxi system. With such long land mass we need the help!

  5. Nightlife- not much to do if you are looking for that Florida nightlife. It is more rare to have weekend nightlife events.

  6. BUGS & LIZARDS and GATORS?! Yes, Florida wildlife and bugs is overwhelming and can be gross!

  7. River Access- we should have great river access and entertainment off the famous St. John’s River.
